The answer may surprise you.

During this Christmas season, many churches will be focused on three things:

  1. The mission of Jesus coming to earth as a baby.
  2. Giving to missionaries and mission-sending agencies.
  3. An abundance of holiday desserts.

Perhaps we can discuss the third one in January, the time when 4 out of 5 of us say, “This year I really should do something about these extra pounds.” For the moment, though, I want to tell you about a unique approach to missions.

I don’t think any believers would disagree that the love of Christ compels us to take the gospel to the nations. Many of you have experienced the joyful work of a short-term mission trip or project—and among my wonderful readers are a few full-time missionaries (thanks for your service!).

And of course, we can support missions through financial giving.  I love being part of a church family that gives a special emphasis to missions during the Christmas season. I hope your church does that too, and I have one request: give.

But there’s another unique way for you to do a great work and share Jesus—and it comes through nothing less than the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association! It’s an incredible ministry done online.

People are constantly doing Internet searches about God, Jesus, and spiritual matters. Maybe they’ve hit a rough spot in life and they’re looking for answers from God … maybe something has got them thinking about eternity … or maybe they’re just curious about spiritual matters. But they go to Google for answers.

The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association has set up a site—peacewithgod.net—to help these people, answers questions, and point them to Jesus. But when people ask a question or want to chat about spiritual matters, who do they converse with?

This is where you can come in. The Billy Graham Association links these people with volunteers—people just like you—who talk to them via live chat, correspond via email, or help with an online Bible study. This is a great ministry opportunity for any believer, especially:

  • Stay-at-home moms
  • Senior adults unable to travel anymore on a mission trip
  • Employees who can’t get the time off for mission work
  • Anyone who can invest a little time each week. (And you can do it in your jammies!)

You can learn a lot more about this ministry opportunity at Search for Jesus. There’s an eight-minute video well worth your time that gives you better information that I can in this short blog.

In this season with its emphases on giving and on missions, consider giving your time to others through Search for Jesus. It doesn’t matter anymore if you’re “stuck at home.” You can make a difference for the kingdom of God.
